The American Gold Eagle is an official gold bullion coin of the United States of America.
The U.S. Mint released the Gold American Eagle in 1986. The obverse of the coin showcases Lady Liberty with flowing hair, holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left, with the Capitol building in the lower left background. The reverse features a male eagle carrying an olive branch flying above a nest containing a female eagle and her hatchlings. The coin commemorates the American values of pride and freedom. In each size (1, 1/2, 1/4, and 1/10 oz) the coin's designs are exactly the same, just different proportions.
The American Gold Eagle is an official gold bullion coin of the United States of America. Authorized under the Gold Bullion Coin Act of 1985, it was first released in 1986. Each coin contains its full stated weight of pure gold, with the balance of copper and silver to increase its durability. This is one of the most recognized and prided of all gold bullion coins.
